Founded in 1957 Alwan & Son's Meat Company is Central Illinois' premiere shopping experience emphasizing the traditional butcher shop experience while featuring quality products and service expanding that experience.
Three generations of Alwan's have served Peoria beginning in the south end of Peoria as a traditional grocery store. In 1962 a new store was built on the current site in Peoria Heights. With the advent of regional grocery stores Alwan's changed its focus towards a traditional butcher shop in the early 70's.
In 2001 Pat & Joe Jr., along with their cousin Brian, became the third family generation to own the store and changed the name to its current Alwan & Sons Meat Company.
